Come Train with Us!!

Since October 1964, Texins Karate, the oldest continuing Karate club in the United States, has been providing instruction in American Tae Kwon Do and the martial arts in the Dallas area. We are the descendants from the ancestry of Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee and Grandmaster Allen Steen. Allen Steen was a business student at the University of Texas when he began studying under Jhoon Rhee in 1959 and achieved his black belt in 1962. In 1964, following Grandmaster Rhee's departure from Austin, Steen set up the Texins Karate school Texas Instruments (Dallas), which grew into a network of schools throughout the state. Grandmaster Steen founded the Southwest Karate Black Belt Association, which in 1972 became the American Karate Black Belt Association (AKBBA). The AKBBA Instructors and Schools are the premier North American organization dedicated to the martial arts discipline of Tae Kwon Do and other styles of martial arts.

Continuing as part of the AKBBA organization, Texins Karate will continue to benefit and strive as Texins Karate & Martial Arts, LLC owned and operated by Head Instructor, Ottis Wooten, who holds the rank of 7th degree Black Belt. Master Wooten has been a member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists (NAPMA) and Martial Arts Industry Association (MAIA).

Since 1964, Texins Karate, the oldest continuing Karate club in the United States, have been providing instruction in Tae Kwon Do and the martial arts in the Dallas area. We are dedicated to providing a safe and family-oriented martial arts experience for students of all ages. Our mission is to foster self-improvement and personal development through focused training. We promote physical fitness and positive social interaction in a courteous and fun atmosphere. Our greatest responsibility is to instill in our students a sense of discipline and a code of ethics to inspire them to lead exemplary lives as leaders in the community.

Students and enthusiasts of Martial Arts have many reasons for their interest in this and other martial art styles. Some are drawn to the physical fitness and weight-loss aspects of training. Others seek to add discipline and self control to their lives. While still others are concerned about safety and self-defense. Whether you are interested in our programs for mental or physical well being, Texins Karate offers a number of programs that will fit your developmental needs and your busy schedule as well.
